Relating measurement disturbance, information, and orthogonality

چکیده
In the general theory of quantum measurement, one associates a positive-semidefinite operator on $d$-dimensional Hilbert space to each $n$ possible outcomes an arbitrary measurement. special case projective these operators are pairwise Hilbert-Schmidt orthogonal, but when $n>d$, orthogonality is restricted by positivity. This restriction allows us more precisely state adage: information gain system always accompanied unavoidable disturbance. Specifically, we investigate three properties measurement with L\"uders rule updating: its disturbance, measure how expected postmeasurement deviates from input; strength, intrinsic producing capacity measurement; and orthogonality, degree which differ orthonormal set. These quantities satisfy information-disturbance tradeoff relation that highlights additional role played orthogonality. Finally, assess several classes measurements grounds identify symmetric informationally complete as unique analogs perfectly informative nondisturbing classical ideal

Measurement - Disturbance and Contextuality
Many seemingly paradoxical effects are known in the predictions for outcomes of measurements made on preand post-selected quantum systems. A class of such effects, which we call “logical preand post-selection paradoxes”, bear a striking resemblance to proofs of the Bell-Kochen-Specker theorem, which suggests that they demonstrate the contextuality of quantum mechanics. Despite the apparent simi...
متن کامل“No Information Without Disturbance”: Quantum Limitations of Measurement
In this contribution I review rigorous formulations of a variety of limitations of measurability in quantum mechanics. To this end I begin with a brief presentation of the conceptual tools of modern measurement theory. I will make precise the notion that quantum measurements necessarily alter the system under investigation and elucidate its connection with the complementarity and uncertainty pr...
متن کاملInformation-disturbance tradeoff in quantum measurement on the uniform ensemble
I consider the tradeo between the information gained about an initially unknown quantum state, and the disturbance caused to that state by the measurement process. I show that for any distribution of initial states, the information-disturbance frontier is convex, and disturbance is nondecreasing with information gain. I consider the most general model of quantummeasurements, and all post-measur...

متن کاملDisturbance decoupling by measurement feedback
The paper addresses the disturbance decoupling problem for MIMO discretetime nonlinear systems. A sufficient conditions are derived to solve the problem by dynamic measurement feedback, i.e. the feedback that depends on measurable outputs only. The solution to the disturbance decoupling problem, described in this paper, is based on the input-output linearization, which is used to linearize cert...
